I did it!

Well did it. Did my first 10k on Sunday in 71 minutes mainly at jogging pace with my sister. We were very proud once we had done it. We both have a medal and t-shirt to show we are finnishers. I am now going to do the Race For Life in Edinburgh on 15th of June, my Sister and I have the running bug as we are both doing that.

I now have two and a half weeks until my ten k eek.  Training going well I have changed my routine and route though due to having to have a few weeks break from running due to my running injury. I continued to run with my Dad for a while during my training but now I am confident enough to go out running myself on a route I created myself. My route is I walk from my house to the small rugby club, ran from there to chalmers hall, walk until railway bridge, I then run from railway bridge to lights at cellar's path. I walk from lights and then run part of the way home. I did this route three times today which is the equivalent of a four and a half k so I only need to do that route six more times in the next two and a half weeks which I am sure I can do. I really enjoy running as it relaxs me, I can't believe I didn't start running five ks or ten ks that invovle training sooner that I did. Hopefully after the ten k I will continue to run and have other goals for myself that involve running. More blog updates will be here in the next few weeks in the lead up to the Glasgow Women's ten k that I am doing this training for.

Training for 10k

I am training for Glasgow Women's 10k that is this May. Over the last two weeks I have been following the couch to 10k programme with the help of my Dad. We have so far been doing five minutes walking to start off with and on first week we did 60 seconds of running and 90 seconds of walking for 20 minutes. On the second week we did five minutes walking, then a minute and a half running, two minutes walking and carried on doing training this way for twenty minutes. I do sometimes get slight pain in my lower right leg when running but I was so determined to run this week that in the two days I have done so far of this week that I kept going running through the pain. I really want to reach my goal of running a 10k especially as I am running this 10k to raise money for the charity Tearfund.
